Review – The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review – The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston

Ashley Poston is a name that is synonymous with her paranormal romance debut, The Dead Romantics, but in “The Seven Year Slip,” she ventures into the world of time travel. As a fan of Poston’s work, I was intrigued to see how she would handle this new niche, and I was not disappointed.

The story centers around Clementine, a young woman who has recently lost her aunt and is still reeling from the devastating loss. She moves into her aunt’s apartment which apparently has the power to transport its inhabitants back to the past, but only in increments of seven years. As she settles into the new normal, Clementine is also working hard to climb the ranks at her job as a book publicist. When she is put in charge of promoting a cookbook written by a famous chef, she faces even more pressure.

The day after she eats at the chef’s restaurant, she discovers that she has been sent back in time, and she meets Ivan, a 25-year-old aspiring chef who is staying in her aunt’s apartment for the summer. The two have an instant connection, and their chemistry is undeniable. However, their relationship is further complicated by the fact that they are from different timelines.

Poston’s writing style is engaging and kept me turning the pages as fast as possible. I particularly enjoyed how she seamlessly blended different genres in this book. There’s romance, of course, but there’s also a healthy dose of mystery and adventure. And the time travel element adds a unique twist that keeps readers on their toes.

Another aspect of “The Seven Year Slip” I appreciated was the well-developed supporting characters. They added depth to the story and supported the main characters in their journey, while also having significant storylines of their own. I loved the banter, the friction and most of all the nicknames the characters gave each other. Poston’s ability to create such well-rounded characters is a testament to her skills as a writer.

In conclusion, “The Seven Year Slip” is a must-read for anyone who loves romance, time travel, and mystery. It has quickly become one of my favourite books, and I cannot wait to have it on my shelf alongside Poston’s other work.
