The Menteur Magazine

In October 2017, I was selected as one of two Editors-in-Chief to produce the 8th edition of the annual issue of the University of Kent, Paris School of Arts and Culture Student Literary Arts magazine.

The example set by previous years was excellent, with high quality journalism, fiction, poetry and both art and photography. It was a welcome challenge to create something new, to showcase the talent of this student cohort.35329615_2170043653036036_6354216162368159744_o

A team that started as 8 editors grew to 20 with the addition of new students halfway through the year meant lots of management and delegation. Because of the existing links within the university, we commissioned artists to design the cover and the persisting inside pattern, and we had the opportunity of interviewing them and a local art collector.

I was in charge of the production, from the concept, size, and design to the paper, production and the launch night. Several months were spent setting up the emails, social media accounts, as well as actually picking the content, proofreading and putting it all together in inDesign.

The magazine was the highlight of the year in Paris and a personal passion project, which reignited my interest for publishing.
